If I had a Billion Pounds (Tigers, Rewilding and Stewarding the Earth)

I was born in 1983, the year the international community finally recognised that tigers were on the brink of extinction.  Back then there were 8000 tigers left in the wild, today there are less than 4000.  To the West, Netflix recent "hit" series Tiger King, reminds us of a sobering truth, there are more captive tigers in the hands of Americans than there are left in the wild. To the East, tigers are traded for their body parts, their value on a par with gold, diamonds or cocaine. Back in the UK, bulldozers begin their destruction of ancient woodlands to make way for the HS2 high speed rail link, in contrast a 20 year re-wilding project at Knepp in West Sussex, shows how different our world could be if we prioritised & protected nature over our drive for continuous economic growth.
